Buy it from us and pick it up at our Saco shop, and it's a Form 4473. Bought at the counter, online or through Silencer Shop, a suppressor we sell you goes out on a Form 4473 with a NICS background check, like any firearm. It's open to any Maine resident, and we recommend joining Gun Owners of America. Any other suppressor transfer — to another dealer, your own can, or a private sale — goes on an ATF Form 4, and approval times are set by the ATF, not by us — we'll give you a current estimate when you start. Yes, on an ATF Form 4. The in-store Form 4473 is only for suppressors we sell. Transferring a can you own to the shop, or a sale between two private owners that we handle, goes on a Form 4 — $50 per item. A can you bought through Silencer Shop and had sent here counts as ours: a Form 4473 at our shop (Maine residents), with no transfer fee. See FFL Transfers.

Not anymore. As of January 1, 2026 the federal transfer tax on suppressors is $0 — there is no transfer tax to pay. A suppressor we sell you and you pick up in our shop goes out on a Form 4473 (Maine residents), so no stamp is involved; on a Form 4 transfer you still get an approved tax stamp — it just no longer costs anything.

Some pieces — high-end 1911s, 2011s, imported revolvers, precision rifles — are made in tiny numbers and almost never sit in stock. Those are allocation items: you reserve your place and we notify you when one becomes available. On Reserve, "Available" means one is actually unclaimed right now; "Allocated · waitlist" means you can sign up to be told the moment one lands.

Our Atelier tier covers limited-edition and made-to-order pieces. These are built or imported to order, so they carry a lead time and a reservation deposit (typically 50% of list) that holds your place in the run. We confirm the exact lead time and deposit before anything is committed.

No. Firearms ship to a licensed FFL for transfer, and you complete the transfer in person after a background check. Accessories and gear can ship straight to you. See FFL Transfers for the full process. Suppressors never ship to your door either: buy one from us and pick it up at our shop on a Form 4473 (Maine residents), or we send it to a licensed SOT dealer near you.

A valid government photo ID with your current address, you must meet the minimum age (generally 21 for handguns and suppressors, 18 for long guns), and you must pass the NICS background check via ATF Form 4473. Some states have extra requirements — we'll confirm yours.

Absolutely. Have the seller ship to our FFL and we'll handle the receiving transfer. Start on the Transfers page, then email us so we can send our license to your seller.

Firearms and NFA items generally can't be returned once transferred, for legal reasons. Unused, non-transferred accessories may be returnable. Full details are on the Policies page.

Suppressors are legal to own in most — but not all — states, and we transfer only where lawful. Tell us your state and we'll confirm before you commit. More on the NFA page.
